I am currently an 8th grade math teacher at Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Nebraska. This is my sixth year at Norfolk. In those six years, I have taught 9th grade algebra I, 9th grade algebra A, 8th grade algebra I, and 8th grade pre-algebra. Prior to teaching at Norfolk, I taught for two years at Randolph Public Schools in Randolph, Nebraska. There I taught 7th grade math, 8th grade pre-algebra, business math, pre-calculus, and calculus. I have taught a variety of math courses and when I graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2006, with a BS in mathematics education, orginally I didn't see myself taking such a passion for my occupation. I always enjoyed teaching and working with people of all ages, but it was just in the last five years that I realized how passionate I really am about what I do.

I have much to learn about my occupation, but I have a willingness to work hard and learn. Just by continuing my education and learning different things, my teaching has completely transformed since the first day I walked into my classroom. My classroom takes a different form each year that I teach. I started my teaching experience with the goal of being able to explain the content to the students in a way that they could understand. Now I not only focus on my own pedagogy, but also on the classroom environment, student centered learning, student motivation, and cooperative learning. I really enjoy watching students take ownership of their learning and watching them excel when they finally understand a concept that was hard for them. I have goals of continuing my education and eventually teaching at the college level.

My Family My Family I am married to my wonderful husband Andy. Andy is currently a computer administrator at Security Bank in Laurel, Nebraska. He also enjoys doing some computer programming on the side. We were married in August of 2009. We are blessed with three amazing and healthy kids. Daniel was born on July 4, 2010 and was a fire cracker from the very beginning. He was born with a birth defect that required an extended stay at Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He now is a healthy three years old and keeps us running. Sarah was born on November 4, 2011. She is our mischievous child and loves to climb and get into things that she is not supposed to be in. She keeps us busy and adds balance to our lives. Rachel was born on October 28, 2013. She is a very happy three month old who lights up a room when she smiles and amazes us every day on how fast she is growing. I enjoy spending time with my family and doing outdoor activities such as running, biking, fishing, and swimming.
